This course is for seafarers who have gained the qualification to master on commercial vessels up to 24 metres long and need to complete your AMPA assessment to gain a Certificate of Competency from AMSA.

After completing a Master Under 24 metre course an AMSA Mandated Practical Assessment (AMPA) will need to be completed to gain a Certificate of Competency from AMSA. To qualify to enrol in this course you must have completed the Master Under 24 Metre course.
The National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV) Part D—Crew Competencies requires that a seafarer pass a final assessment prior to the issue of a certificate of competency.
The AMPA is the practical assessment of the appropriate operational skills and knowledge, and knowledge of Australian maritime legislation.
