Cultivate a career in wine operations with this nationally recognised qualification which will prepare you for entry into the industry and future study into a Certificiate III. 

Be trained by industry specialists on campus and with local wine producers at the vineyards. Become equipped with technical training and communications skills to begin a career in viticulture. 

Learn the step-by-step process on how to harvest grapes, grape vine pruning and maintenance, and how to diagnose and treat plant diseases and disorders. Build an introductory skillset in tasting wine and assessing style, as well as vineyard operations.

The career path offers opportunities to work in stunning vineyards in the great outdoors, whilst building skills to communicate with customers from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Study in specialised facilities:

The dedicated Murdoch Student Garden Centre at SM TAFE is pivotal to the learning experience for students and teaches excellence in service delivery. Facilities include computer labs with contemporary software and dedicated sheltered nursery areas. Students can learn through the application of hands-on skills in an environment that reflects current industry practices and simulates a real-life workplace experience.  

The Murdoch campus offers students the opportunity to build knowledge of wine appreciation and learn a broad range of viticultural practices. This course also involves group visitation to local vineyards such as the Swan Valley wine region.
